Chief Supt Steve Rides is the Divisional Commander for East Division, which covers the Blackburn with Darwen, Hyndburn, Ribble Valley, Burnley, Pendle and Rossendale areas.
"I have been a Police Officer for 25 years, starting my policing career in 1998 in Greater Manchester, before transferring to Lancashire Constabulary in 2007, where I worked in East Division for 15 years, so I’m very proud to return to the division as Divisional Commander.
I have worked across a range of roles and areas, starting as a Response Sergeant in Colne. I have since worked in Neighbourhood Policing as a Sergeant and then Inspector at Nelson, Burnley, Rossendale, and Hyndburn, before being promoted to Chief Inspector in 2021. I was the Response Chief Inspector at Blackburn with Darwen and Hyndburn before leading on the Targeted Operating Model for Response and Tactical Operations in 2022. In December 2022 I was promoted to the rank of Superintendent and posted to South Division where I commenced the role of Operations Manager at Preston, prior to me returning to East Division as Divisional Commander.
Working with a well-established Senior Leadership Team here at East division, our priorities are to provide a timely response to our communities when they need us, engaging with our communities to identify and address those matters that mean the most to them. We will be working closely with our partners to ensure long term problem solving, which will be prevention focused that enables early identification of vulnerability, tackles crime and anti-social behaviour, whilst dealing robustly with those who continue to commit crime in our communities.
