Disability Equality North West and Preston Police raise awareness of Safe Place scheme

Lancashire Constabulary’s South Division Hate Crime Team is working in partnership with Disability Equality North West to sign up premises in the PR postcode (Preston, Chorley & South Ribble) to be a ‘safe place’ for disabled people, in an initiative to tackle hate crime.

The safe place scheme helps vulnerable people if they feel scared or at risk while they are out and about in the community and need support right away.

Disability Equality North West provides a training pack for participating venues, who also display a circular yellow sticker in their front window as an indicator the building is a safe place and staff inside will offer help, support or even just a chat and a brew.
