Officers in Blackpool, Fylde, and Wyre recently launched a Christmas competition, all about showing kindness.

The competition asked primary school aged children to carry out an act of kindness within their local community and to submit it to a local officer.

The winner of the competition is 10-year-old Aneel from Fleetwood.

On Saturday 2nd December, Aneel held a local charity event inside her local One Stop store in Fleetwood.

Aneel made animal friendly ‘reindeer food’ and various Christmas decorations, inspired by lessons she learnt at school. The items were available to the public and exchanged for tins of food.

She managed to fill two crates of non-perishable food, which she has donated to a local food bank.

The prize is the chance to become a police officer for the day at Blackpool’s Divisional Headquarters, which she will carry out in the new year.

PCSO Alison Williams, who created the competition, said: “This is the second year that we have run this competition, and the acts of kindness that have been submitted are so heartwarming.

“Part of Lancashire Constabulary’s vision is to build strong local relationships with our communities and fun activities like this do just that.

“A huge thank you to everyone who entered.”
