Blackpool Police and local council tackle ASB and drug offences with closure orders

Wednesday, May 28, 2025

Blackpool’s Neighbourhood Policing Team, in close partnership with the Community Safety Team at Blackpool Council and Blackpool Coastal Housing, have secured 2 closure orders on properties relating to drug offences and anti-social behaviour (ASB).

The closure orders relate to addresses on Dinmore Avenue and Braemar Walk, Blackpool.

Officers and partners saw the order passed by Preston Magistrates' Court on the 21st May 2025, under Section 80 of the Anti-social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014. The closures remain in place for a period of three months.

Both orders (which are unrelated to each other) are a direct response to community intelligence and have made it a criminal offence for anyone not listed on the order to enter the property.

Neighbourhood Policing Sergeant Thomas Higgs said, “We welcome the result of this closure order that was causing concern in the local community.

“This behaviour won't be tolerated, and I hope this sends a clear message that we will work with partners to act on information reported to us and that we will take the appropriate steps to safeguard people and deal with criminality.”

Cllr Paula Burdess, Blackpool Council Cabinet Member for Community Safety, Street Scene and Neighbourhoods, said: “The welfare and well-being of residents in our communities is paramount. These closure orders are a clear message that anti-social behaviour will not be tolerated at all and will be tackled robustly.

“They are also another positive example of the results that are being achieved through the close partnership efforts of the council’s Community Safety Team and Blackpool’s Neighbourhood Policing Team.”
