Leyland man jailed after being found with a knife

A Leyland man has been jailed after a stop and search found him to be carrying a knife.

During a routine patrol last Thursday (12th June 2025), officers from Leyland's Neighbourhood Policing Team spotted Andrew Ritchie acting suspiciously on Bannister Drive in Leyland.

He was detained for a stop search under section 23 of the Misuse of Drugs act where he was found to be carrying a kitchen knife in his pocket and was arrested and later charged with possession of a knife.

On Friday, 13th June, 2025, Ritchie, 30, of Leyland Lane, appeared at Preston Magistrates Court where he pleaded guilty to the charge and was jailed for 26 weeks.
