Pendle stores fail underage vape sales test

Wednesday, March 19, 2025

Pendle’s Neighbourhood Policing team and Lancashire County Council Trading Standards have recently conducted a test purchasing operation.

On Monday (17th March 2025) six premises across Nelson and Colne were tested around underage sales of vapes.

Three premises failed to ask for ID and sold a vape to our underage volunteers. The shops in question are now being investigated by Trading Standards.

Inspector Rob Grey from Pendle Police said: “This operation saw three establishments fail when two young testers were sold vapes. This is not only illegal but can also put children at serious risk.

“We will continue to listen to community concerns, and work alongside partners to tackle this issue.”

If anyone has concerns that a shop may be breaking the law, please report the business anonymously by phoning Citizens Advice Consumer Service on 0808 223 1133.
