New Neighbourhood Policing Inspector for Burnley and Rossendale

Wednesday, August 21, 2024

On Monday 19th August, Burnley and Rossendale welcomed a new neighbourhood Inspector, Matt Plummer. Matt will be joining officers as their new Inspector, responsible for the neighbourhood policing teams based at Burnley and Waterfoot in Rossendale. The role of the neighbourhood Inspector is to support the team in prioritising and problem-solving community issues, proactively targeting opportunistic and organised crime and engaging with locals on issues that matter most to them.

Inspector Plummer began his career with Lancashire police in 2007 working in Blackpool as a response officer then moving on to work on the Neighbourhood Policing Team, Roads Policing Unit and Operational Support Unit across different areas of the county before being promoted to Response Sergeant and more recently to Response Inspector at Burnley.

Proud to be working in the borough, Inspector Plummer is keen to build relationships and keep communities informed of actions taken in relation to concerns they have raised.

“I’m really pleased to be the new Neighbourhood Policing Inspector for Burnley and Rossendale, and I am incredibly proud to be joining a fantastic team of officers, PCSOs and police staff. We have a brilliantly proactive team of people, and I want to strengthen existing links and build new ones with you all. I am looking forward to bringing a wide range of experience into the team and taking a robust approach with those who blight your communities with anti-social behaviour and criminality. Our neighbourhood teams provide a great way to find out the issues going on within our communities and allow us to work together with our partner agencies to tackle them.”

“I would encourage residents to please sign up to Lancashire Talking if they haven’t already and keep your details up to date. We prioritise our team’s activities on a local level, responding to matters that mean the most to you - and this is a perfect tool to help us keep you informed of that activity.
