The Hyndburn Neighbourhood Policing Team, in collaboration with multiple partner agencies, carried out a Bin the Bangers operation on Wednesday (29th January 2025). The operation aims to address community concerns around road safety, removing unsafe vehicles from the streets.
The operation is an ongoing initiative to remove untaxed, abandoned and road-unworthy vehicles off the streets. Working closely with the DVLA and Hyndburn Council, the team successfully removed 22 untaxed vehicles from the roads, freeing up valuable space in the Bridge Street Area of Church. This is the second time the Hyndburn Team have carried out this initiative at this location in the last three months.
Officers also handed out two Community Protection Warnings (CPWs) to two car garages who were found to have untaxed vehicles located on a public highway.
Local Neighbourhood Inspector for Hyndburn, Peter Norris, said: “Bin the Bangers is all about working with our partner agencies to tackle the issues that matter to our residents.
“We know that these untaxed and abandoned vehicles can be an eyesore for those living, visiting and working in the area, as well as create safety concerns as they block roads and pathways.
“We will continue to address these issues and would encourage people to continue to report their concerns to us by signing up to Lancashire Talking and In The Know”.
