Man jailed for Accrington burglary

A man has been jailed for a burglary that took place on Stanley Street in Accrington.

On 10th January 2025 officers were called to a report of a man breaking into a sandwich shop on Stanley Street, Accrington, where a window had been smashed and the cash register had been taken.

Jack Dwyer, 23, of Devonshire Drive, Clayton-le-Moors, was arrested and charged with burglary.

On 11th January 2025, Dwyer appeared at Preston Magistrates Court where he pleaded guilty to the charge. He has been sentenced to four months in prison.

Local Neighbourhood Sergeant Andy Thorpe said: “We are glad to be able to remove this burglar off the streets of Accrington.

“We know how much being burgled can impact businesses, owners and their staff, and we will continue to take robust action in tackling these issues.”
