Man arrested on suspicion of cannabis cultivation in Oswaldtwistle

Monday, December 18, 2023

A cannabis farm was dismantled last week (13th December) after we received information of a potential cannabis growth in the Oswaldtwistle area.

When patrols attended the house on Sunnybank Drive they found a quantity of cannabis plants after searching the property.

Evidence was found that the electricity had been bypassed and Electricity North West were called to the property to make the premises safe.

A 31-year-old man from Oswaldtwistle has been arrested on suspicion of cultivation of cannabis and released under investigation.

Inspector Pete Norris, from Hyndburn Police, said: “The cultivation of cannabis is a serious offence and can be a stepping stone into organised crime groups in our communities.

“What people don’t often think about are the hidden dangers of cannabis farms such as the risk of fire. In order to power a setup such as this one, the electricity supply is often tampered with putting other local residents at risk.

“We would ask that anyone with information surrounding cannabis farms or other drugs in our communities please contact us and we will act on your information.”
