Hyndburn Police were out in Great Harwood over January, tackling concerns the local community had raised to them. They carried out Operation Rally, a dedicated day of intensified action, focusing on the top priorities’ residents, visitors and businesses had identified in Hyndburn via Lancashire Talking.
Neighbourhood officers visited four local primary schools to address issues around parking, educating parents and children on the rules and legalities to ensure people are parking safely and legally when picking up and dropping off children.
Officers have also been out carrying roadside checks on cars at various times throughout the day, issuing tickets to drivers for a variety of traffic offences, including speeding.
Neighbourhood teams have been out on foot patrol, speaking to local residents and businesses about their concerns and priorities, and signing people up to Lancashire Talking, our community messaging service. They also visited the newly formed Warm Spaces venue at Bank Mill House and engaged with the public, as well as hosting a bike registering event in Lowerfold Park
Anti-social behaviour hotspot areas were targeted, and Officers took two young people home and carried out a Section 23 Misuse of Drugs Act stop search.
A Community Roadwatch was also conducted over on Waverledge Road, Great Harwood, where 15 vehicles were found to be exceeding the legal speed limit and CWR letters were sent to the registered keepers addresses.
Officers also joined Trading Standards on an operation, visiting local businesses to check they were not selling illicit products or selling goods illegally to those not of the legal age.
PC Paul Pountain from the Hyndburn Neighbourhood Policing Team said, “We will continue to actively work with our partner agencies to tackle the issues and concerns of our communities and this day of action is just a small example of the kind of activity we do day-in-day-out.
“We would encourage the community to continue to report their concerns, so that the right agency can take action as those engaging in this illegal activity.”
“We would encourage you, if you haven’t done so already, to take our Lancashire Talking survey. You can also sign up to In the Know to keep updated with what’s going on in your area, visit https://www.stayintheknow.co.uk/.”
