Friday, March 21, 2025

Hyndburn Police were out again this week as part of Operation Rally, tackling concerns the local community have raised to them. Officers took part in a dedicated day of intensified action on Tuesday 18th March, focusing on the top priorities residents and businesses have identified via Lancashire Talking.

Neighbourhood officers spent the morning focusing on road safety, targeting cars with no tax, SORN and vehicles causing obstructions in and around the Springhill area. They were joined by partners from Hyndburn Council and the DVLA, and in total 22 cars were removed from the area and the drivers were issued fixed penalty notices.

In the afternoon, Hyndburn Task Force were joined by Mounted patrol as they visited the Fern Gore area, Bullough Park and Springhill. Whilst in the area Mounted officers arrested a 23-year-old man from Accrington on suspicion of GBH and another man, aged 30, from Accrington who was wanted on warrant.

Officers also found a 3-year-old child running around on Union Street on their own; the child had lost their parents who were frantic in the Arndale. The child was safely returned to their parents.

Following intelligence provided by the public, officers visited the Springhill area speaking to the local community about their concerns. Hyndburn Task Force carried out four stop searches in the area. Visible patrols were also out around Bullough Park to disrupt and target off-road bike nuisance, something which the community has raised concerns about.

The mobile police station joined in the efforts, with the hate crime team out speaking to the public. Officers were also stationed at a local supermarket for Coffee with a Cop, speaking to communities about current issues in the area and registering people up to the community feedback and messaging service, Lancashire Talking.

Inspector Mohammed Lorgat from the Hyndburn Neighbourhood Policing Team said, “Once again it has been great to be out working with partners to tackle the issues that matter most to our communities.

“We will continue to actively work with them to address concerns of our communities and this day of action is just a small example of the kind of activity we do day-in-day-out.

“We would encourage the community to continue to report their concerns, so that the right agency can take action as those engaging in this illegal activity.

We would encourage you, if you haven’t done so already, to take our Lancashire Talking survey. You can also sign up to In the Know to keep updated with what’s going on in your area, visit https://www.stayintheknow.co.uk/.”
