Blackburn Neighbourhood Police, in collaboration with several partner agencies, conducted a successful day of action on Tuesday 13th May 2025, addressing community concerns about abandoned and illegal vehicles, removing them from Blackburn’s streets.
Two locations were targeted during the operation, Carluke Street and Lower Hollin Bank Street, with 14 vehicles being seized by the DVLA for no tax, six abandoned cars being removed under Section 99 and 11 fixed penalty notices given for cars being parked on a dropped curb. 13 people were also issued Community Protection Warnings for causing nuisance parking, one was given to a business owner for improper unroadworthy vehicle storage and a man aged 52 from Blackburn was arrested on suspicion of obstructing police.
Local Neighbourhood Sergeant Tim Fryer said: “Abandoned vehicles can be hazardous for our communities and businesses, as well as cause a real eyesore for our residents.
“We are glad to be able to remove these vehicles off our streets and will continue to work closely with our partners to tackle this issue.”
