13 year old arrested following disorder in Rossendale

Thursday, September 5, 2024

We have arrested a teenager in connection with recent disorder in Rawtenstall Town Centre and ongoing anti-social behaviour in Bacup Town Centre.

We were called to Rawtenstall Town Centre on 20th August 2024 following reports of large groups of youths wearing balaclavas and carrying weapons. During our patrols of Bacup in the same week, our officers were met with threatening behaviour.

Following enquiries, on the 28th August Rossendale Police arrested a 13-year-old boy from Bacup on suspicion of affray and Section 4 Public Order, who has been bailed to keep out of the area whilst our enquiries continue.

Neighbourhood Inspector for Rossendale, Matt Plummer, said “I want to make it clear that this type of behaviour will not be accepted on the streets of Rossendale and I will ensure robust action is taken against those who not only cause issues for the public but then threaten our officers and staff whose job it is to attend the incidents”

Op Centurion is a county-wide crackdown on anti-social behaviour, led by Lancashire Constabulary and backed by Police and Crime Commissioner Clive Grunshaw, delivering his priority of getting tough on anti-social behaviour, with the support of our partners.
