Drug dealer jailed after trying to escape police in Blackburn

Tuesday, March 18, 2025

The man pictured below is 19-year-old Ali Zaman and he is a drug dealer.

Yesterday (17th March) he was jailed for three years and two months thanks to officers from our East Targeted Crime Team.

At around 10.10am on 28th January this year our officers came across a black BMW being driven suspiciously on Pringle Street, Blackburn.

When an officer has attempted to speak to the driver of the car – which transpired to be Zaman – he has dangerously reversed away from officers.

A few minutes later our officers found Zaman on Queens Park Road where he attempted to run away. However, he was arrested and found to be in possession of £320 cash, a BMW car key and some house keys.

The BMW was found in Queens Park Close and our officers managed to unlock it with the key taken from Zaman.

A chewing gum container was found under the rear wheel of the car next to the BMW. This contained wraps of heroin and crack cocaine later valued at £1,080.

During a search of Zaman’s house in Hermitage Street, Rishton, we found weighing scale and a bag containing powder used as a bulking agent for crack cocaine.

Zaman’s phone also contained messages linked to drug-dealing.

Zaman, of Hermitage Street, Rishton, was charged with possession with intent to supply heroin and crack cocaine, and dangerous driving.

He pleaded guilty to those offences when he appeared at the dock and was sentenced yesterday.

DC Dan Burton, from our East Targeted Crime Team, said: “Zaman’s behaviour was unacceptable.

“Thanks to information from the community, targeted crime team officers have managed to take this drug dealer off the streets of Blackburn. If you have information about drug-dealing in your area pass it onto the police, confident that we will take the appropriate action.”
