We're appealing for information following a serious collision in Thornton involving a car and a cyclist.

It occurred at around 12:57pm yesterday afternoon (Fri 7 April) on Chester Avenue, when a Vauxhall Zafira collided with a cyclist whilst merging from Richmond Avenue.

The cyclist – a man aged in his 20s – suffered multiple injuries in the collision and was taken to Blackpool Victoria Hospital.

We are now appealing for anyone with information or footage showing what happened to get in touch.

Sgt Peter Snook, of the Roads Policing Team, said: “An investigation has been launched and we are now asking anybody who witnessed the collision or who saw either vehicle in the moments before it happened to get in touch. We would also like to hear from anyone who has CCTV, dashcam or other footage showing the area around the collision.”
