CCTV appeal following assault in Accrington

Friday, May 13, 2022

Do you recognise the two people in the CCTV footage?

We want to speak to them after a man was assaulted on Blackburn Road, Accrington, between 8.45pm and 8.55pm on Wednesday (May 11).

The victim was walking close to the Bees Knees pub when he was attacked by a man who had been riding a bike.

The suspect is described as white, wearing a black and grey top and a face mask.

The victim, a man in his 30s from Accrington, suffered an injury to his head and was taken to hospital. Thankfully, the injury was not life-threatening.

We have conducted a number of enquiries and now want to speak to the two men on the bicycles in the CCTV as part of our investigation.

We appreciate the quality of the CCTV is poor and the individuals are wearing face coverings. However, we hope someone will recognise their family member, friend or acquaintance by their distinctive clothing or the vehicles they are riding

No arrests have been made at this stage.

PC Phillipa Crompton, of East Division, said: “This was a completely unprovoked attack which has left the victim requiring hospital treatment.

“We have carried out a number of enquiries to identify the individual responsible for this assault and we now need to speak to the two people in the CCTV footage who we believe can assist with our investigation.”

Anyone with information is asked to email [email protected] or call 101, quoting log 1492 of May 11, 2022.
