Men charged with drug offences

DETECTIVES investigating the supply of Class A drugs in East Lancashire have charged a number of men.

The men were all arrested yesterday (Wed, November 24th) in a series of dawn raids in the Rishton, Accrington and Huncoat areas.

A number of addresses in the Rishton and Accrington area were searched as part of the investigation which forms part of the National Crime Agency Operation Venetic – the UK’s biggest ever law enforcement operation.

Four individuals have now been charged. They are:

Simon Day, 54, of Walmsley Street, Great Harwood, is charged with Conspiracy to Supply Heroin, Conspiracy to Supply Cocaine, Conspiracy to Supply Cannabis, Conspiracy to Produce Ketamine, Conspiracy to Produce Amphetamine and Conspiracy to Transfer Criminal Property.

Carl Williams, 39, of Wordsworth Road, Accrington is charged with Conspiracy to Supply Heroin, Conspiracy to Supply Cocaine, Conspiracy to Supply Cannabis, Conspiracy to Produce Ketamine, Conspiracy to Produce Amphetamine and Conspiracy to Transfer Criminal Property.

Anthony Bradshaw, 36, of Oakdene Avenue, Accrington, is charged with Conspiracy to Supply Cocaine and Conspiracy to Supply Amphetamine.

Anthony Gibson, 48, of Devonshire Street, Accrington, is charged with Conspiracy to Produce Amphetamine and Conspiracy to Produce Ketamine.

A fifth man, aged 26 from Accrington, has been released under investigation pending further enquiries.

All those charged were due to appear before Blackburn Magistrates’ Court this morning (Thursday, November 25th)
