Appeal following aggravated burglary in Blackburn

Wednesday, November 17, 2021

We are appealing for witnesses following an aggravated burglary in Blackburn.

Officers were called to Manxman Road at 10pm on Saturday (November 13) to reports up to six masked men had entered a property.

One of them has then brandished a machete and made repeated demands for cash.

There were four occupants in the property at the time, including three children.

The suspects have escaped with a CCTV box.

They are described as wearing all dark clothing and masks.

No arrests have been made at this stage. Enquiries are very much ongoing.

Reassurance patrols have been increased in the area.

PC Nicola Breckell, of the East Target Team, said: “This was a terrifying incident for the occupants who, although not injured, were left extremely shaken.

“We have already carried out a number of enquiries as part of this ongoing investigation and we are now asking for the public’s help.

“I would ask anybody who saw any suspicious vehicles or groups of men in the area between 9pm and 11pm to contact the police. Similarly, I would ask people to check their CCTV, doorbell or dashcam footage to see if they have captured anything which could assist our enquiries.”

Anyone with information is asked to email [email protected] or [email protected] or call 01282 472133. Alternatively call 101, quoting log 1700 of November 13, 2021.
