Appeal after couple assaulted on night out in Preston

Wednesday, September 15, 2021

We are appealing for information following a serious assault on a couple who were on a night out in Preston.

The incident occurred at around 12.30am on Sunday (September 12th) at Hartleys wine bar on Mount Street.

The victims – a man aged in his 30s and a woman aged in her 40s – were standing on the balcony area of the bar as another group of people were being escorted from the premises.

A woman who was part of the group grabbed the female victim’s hair and a male from the group then punched her to the face. She fell to the floor and was kicked to the face.

The male victim attempted to intervene but was punched by the man. Thankfully his injuries were not serious, however the female victim attended hospital and it was found she had four fractures to her eye socket which will require surgery.

The female offender is described as being around 5ft 3ins tall, with dark-coloured hair.

The male offender is described as being stocky, over 6ft tall, with short, light-coloured hair which is shaved at the sides. He was wearing a blue jumper. It is estimated he was aged in his 40s or 50s.

We are now appealing for information about the incident and would like to speak to anybody who saw it, or who captured any part of it on a mobile phone.

DC Laura Fagan, of Preston CID, said: “This was a completely unprovoked attack, carried out by strangers on a couple who were simply enjoying a night out.

“The two victims have been left extremely shaken and the female victim has facial fractures which will need surgery.

“We are determined to find those responsible and are asking with information about the assault to get in touch with us. Maybe you saw all or part of it, perhaps you captured some of it on your mobile phone or maybe you think you know who was responsible.

“Whatever you know, please get in touch with us straight away.”

Anybody with information is asked to get in touch on 101, quoting log 605 of September 12th
