Appeal after man suffers broken jaw in Clitheroe night out attack

Thursday, September 10, 2020

We are appealing for information after a man was assaulted and had his jaw broken on a night out in Clitheroe.

The incident occurred just before midnight on Saturday, September 5th, outside the White Lion pub on Market Place.

The 18-year-old victim was outside the pub with a friend when they were approached by three other people – two men and a woman – who started a verbal altercation with the pair. The victim and his friend were then assaulted, with the victim suffering a broken jaw which has since required surgery. Thankfully his friend suffered only minor injuries.

One of the men who approached the pair is described as being white, between 5ft 9ins to 5ft 11ins tall, approximately 18-years-old and wearing a light-coloured T-shirt - possibly white in colour.

The second man is described as white, aged around 18, roughly 6ft 4ins tall and of broad build.

The woman is described as being white, around 18 years old, of average height and build, with blonde hair.

We would now like to hear from anybody who saw the incident or saw the group before it happened.

DS Sarah Hargreaves, of Ribble Valley Police, said: “This was a nasty and entirely unprovoked attack on two men who were simply enjoying a night out. As a result, one has suffered a serious injury, for which he has had to have surgery.

“We are now asking anybody with information about the attack to get in touch with us as soon as possible. Perhaps you saw all or part of the attack or saw the group around the time it happened, or maybe you recognise the description of the group.

“Whatever information you have, please share it with us as soon as possible.”

Anybody with information is asked to contact us on 101, quoting log number 1121 of September 6th.
