Wednesday, September 9, 2020

We are appealing for witnesses after a collision in Nelson left a boy seriously injured.

It happened at around 4:45pm on Sunday (September 6th) at the junction of Barkerhouse Road with Vincent Road. The boy, 9, was cycling across Barkerhouse Road when he was in a collision with a dark silver/ grey Audi.

The Audi did not stop and made off from the scene, however, it was found and recovered a short time later nearby.

The boy was left with a serious leg injury and remains in hospital.

PC Oliver Sessions from Lancashire’s Tactical Operations said: “We need anyone who saw the incident or the Audi involved, which has an 18 plate registration, in the area in the time leading up to and after the collision.

“Similarly, if you have any CCTV or dashcam footage of what happened or before and after, we need to speak to you.”

A man and woman arrested on suspicion of failing to stop at the scene of a road traffic accident have been released under investigation pending further enquiries.

Anyone with information can call us on 101 quoting incident reference 1100 of September 6th.
