Detectives are appealing for information after a man was left with life-changing injuries following a serious road traffic collision in Pendle.
Officers were called to Barrowford Road, Colne, at 8.26pm on Friday (October 23) to reports a grey Volkswagen Golf GTI had crashed into a farm wall. It is believed the Golf may have been attempting to overtake a car at the time of the collision.
When officers attended the scene, they found two passengers still in the Golf but the driver had left the scene.
One of the passengers, a man in his 30s was taken to hospital with life-changing back and chest injuries. He remains in hospital in a serious but stable condition.
The other passenger, a man in his 30s, suffered minor injuries. He has since been discharged from hospital.
Following police enquiries, a 35-year-old man from Colne was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving. He has since been released under investigation.
Detectives are appealing for the driver of the car which was overtaken immediately before the collision to come forward. They are also asking for anyone with dashcam or CCTV footage of the Golf prior to the collision to get in contact.
Det Sgt Dave Bowler, of East CID, said: “This collision has left a man with life-changing injuries and my thoughts are with him and his family at this time.
“Although we have made an arrest our investigation remains very much ongoing and we need to establish the full circumstances of what happened.
“I would urge anybody with information that would assist our inquiry to get in contact. We are particularly keen to trace the driver of the car which is believed to have been overtaken in the lead up to the collision.”
