Murder inquiry underway in Nelson

Detectives have launched a murder investigation following the death of a man in Nelson yesterday (Friday, May 22).

Police were called around 3.25pm to a report a man had been found unresponsive at a property in Fir Street.

Officers attended the address where a man, believed to be in his 60s, was found and sadly pronounced dead at the scene. The death is being treated as suspicious.

A second man, believed to be his 30s, was later arrested on suspicion of murder.

An investigation is underway and enquiries on-going. 

Det Ch Insp Lee Wilson, of Lancashire Police, said: "A murder investigation has been launched following the death of a man in Nelson.

"My thoughts are very much with the man involved and his family at this tragic and very difficult time.

"While we have made an arrest, we would appeal to anyone with information or who feels they can assist with our enquiries to come forward."
