Appeal following serious assault in Blackpool

Tuesday, March 24, 2020

We are appealing for information following a serious assault which occurred on Saturday (March 21st) in Blackpool.

The victim, a man aged in his 30s, was cycling on Belmont Avenue at around 2.30pm when he was approached by a group of approximately four men who hit him several times to the head before making off towards Central Drive. The victim sustained slash-type injuries which required stitches.

One of the offenders is described as Asian, aged in his mid-20s, around 6ft tall, of skinny build, with short dark hair and a thin designer-style beard with a goatee. He was wearing a black puffer-style jacket, a navy blue jumper with white a t-shirt underneath and grey Adidas jogging bottoms with white vertical stripes on the outer leg. He spoke with a Manchester accent.

Unfortunately the victim was unable to provide descriptions of the rest of the group.

DC Colin Adams, of Blackpool Police, said: “This was a nasty and entirely unprovoked attack, which left the victim needing hospital treatment.

“We are now determined to find out who was responsible and are asking anybody with information about who the men may be to get in touch with us as soon as possible.

“Perhaps you were in the area and saw something suspicious, or maybe you recognise the description the victim has given. Either way, we would like to hear from you.”

Anybody with information is asked to get in touch on 101, quoting log 867 of March 21st.
