Two charged and further arrests made following Morecambe street disturbance

We have charged a further two people and made another seven arrests following a street disturbance in Morecambe in which four men received stab wounds. 

Eleven people in total have now been arrested in connection with the investigation.

Detectives have charged Thomas Carberry, 21, of Thornton Road, Morecambe, with possession of an offensive weapon and violent disorder, and Sean Brady, 22, of Keswick Road, Lancaster, with possession of an offensive weapon and violent disorder. Both were due to appear at Preston Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday (February 5).

In addition officers have also arrested seven people. These are:

* A 29-year-old man from Morecambe, on suspicion of assault – GBH and offences under the public order act
* A 32-year-old man from Morecambe, on suspicion of assault – GBH and offences under the public order act
* A 22-year-old woman from Lancaster, on suspicion of assault – GBH and offences under the public order act
* A 25-year-old woman from Morecambe, on suspicion of assault – GBH and offences under the public order act
* A 21-year-old man from Heysham, on suspicion of assault – GBH and offences under the public order act 
* A 21-year-old man from Lancaster, on suspicion of assault – GBH and offences under the public order act
* A 21-year-old man from Heysham, on suspicion of assault – GBH and offences under the public order act

All seven have since been released on police bail.

It follows a street disturbance which occurred shortly before 3:20am on Thursday 30th January on Queen Street.

We attended and found four men in the street with stab wounds. Three of the men were taken to hospital with serious injuries.

In addition to the charges and arrests listed above, officers have also charged Florentin Damian, 32, of Queen Street, Morecambe, with violent disorder and possession of an offensive weapon. He was due to appear before magistrates in Preston on Saturday (February 1).

A 33-year-old man remains in hospital under arrest. He was arrested on suspicion of wounding/inflicting grievous bodily harm with intent.

We are continuing to appeal for information and are particularly keen to trace anybody with CCTV or dash cam footage.
