A man has today (Thursday, February 13) been sentenced after admitting the serious assault of two men during disorder in Nelson.
Nasar Ahmed, 19, of Reedyford Road, Nelson, was sentenced at Preston Crown Court following a violent attack last year.
Police had been called around 1.15am on July 16 after reports a number of men carrying machetes and bats had been involved in a fight in the Brunswick Street area.
Officers attended and a 19-year-old man was found at the scene having suffered serious injuries to his legs and hand.

Both men were taken to hospital for treatment.
Detectives quickly established Ahmed had been involved in a dispute with one of the victims on July 15. He later confronted both men with a machete, leaving them with devastating injuries.
Ahmed was arrested by police and later charged with two counts of attempted murder.
At court Ahmed pleaded guilty to two counts of Section 18 wounding and was jailed for 11 years at a Young Offender Institute.
