Appeal to trace two people following collision in Lea

Wednesday, September 18, 2019

We are asking for the public’s help tracing two people who made off from the scene following a collision in Lea.

The incident occurred at around 4.30pm on Sunday (September 15th) at the junction of Sidgreaves Lane and Hoyles Lane. A black Mercedes, believed to have been stolen earlier the same day, collided with a black Landrover Discovery.

Two occupants of the Mercedes, both males, ran off from the vehicle, believed to be in the direction of Darkinson Lane and Lea Road towards Cottam.

Two women, aged 60 and 21, who had been in the Landrover, suffered minor injuries.

We would now like to hear from anybody who saw the collision but has not yet been spoken to by officers. We would also like to hear from anybody with any other information about the collision, particularly if they can help identify the men who ran off from the Mercedes.

Sgt Phil Baxendale, of the Lancashire Police TacOps team, said: “Thankfully the two women in the Landrover were not seriously injured, but this collision could have been a lot worse.

“We are now urging anybody who saw the collision, or who saw either of the vehicles in the moments before, to get in touch as soon as possible. Similarly we would also like to hear from anybody who knows who the men in the Mercedes were.”

Anybody with information should contact us on 101, quoting log number 1017 of September 15th.
