Wanted man arrested

DETECTIVES investigating a serious assault in Blackburn have arrested a man they want to speak to.

Officers appealed for the public’s help to trace Karl Sharples, 31, in connection with the attack which has left a man in a serious condition in hospital.

And he was arrested this morning (Sunday, November 3rd) on suspicion of aggravated burglary and wounding. He remains in custody.

Police were called at shortly after 5pm on Thursday, October 31st to reports of a break in at an address on Wellington Road in the town.

Officers attended and found a 43-year-old man inside the address with serious injuries. He was taken to hospital where he remains in a serious condition.

Two men were arrested a short time later.

Colm Martin, 33, of Primrose Close, Blackburn and Michael McPake, 37, of Moorgate Street, Blackburn have been charged with burglary and assault.

They have appeared at court and been remanded.

Detective Inspector Tom Edmondson, of East CID, said: “I would like to thank the public for their assistance in our enquiry so far and appeal for anyone with information who hasn’t yet spoken to us to come forward.”
