Two men have been charged by police in connection with an arson investigation in Blackburn.
Officers were called by the fire service at about 6.30am on Thursday (November 21) to a report of a fire at flats on Rothesay Road.
At around 8.30am on Thursday police were called by the ambulance service to Moorland Avenue in the town to a report of an assault. A 24-year-old man from Blackburn was found with a serious head injury and was taken to hospital for treatment. He has since been released. A man in his 30s was arrested on suspicion of assault and later released under investigation.
Both incidents were believed to be linked.
Following investigation two men were later arrested by police in connection with the arson attack.
Lewis Clough, 33, of Perry Street, Darwen and Thomas Bank, 24, of Hilton Road, Darwen, have been charged with arson with intent to endanger life. Both were remanded to appear at Preston Magistrates’ Court on Saturday (November 23) and have since been remanded to prison.
