Two arrested following death of Burnley man

Friday, March 29, 2019

Two people have been arrested as part of an investigation into the death of a Burnley man.

Detectives are continuing to appeal for the public’s help in tracing Andrew Forrest’s final movements in a bid to find out what happened to him in the hours and days before his death.

Mr Forrest’s death remains unexplained and is unclear at this stage whether any criminal act has been committed.

A post mortem examination has taken place, however a cause of death is yet to be established. Further tests are being carried out but are expected to take many months.

A man aged 51 and a woman aged 26, both from Burnley, were arrested yesterday (Thursday, March 28) in connection with the investigation and interviewed. They have both now been released under investigation pending further enquiries.

Emergency services were called to an address on Florence Street at around 3:15pm on Tuesday 19th March after the body of Mr Forrest, 49, was found inside.

We have been carrying out a number of enquires to piece together Andrew’s movements in the lead up to 19th March.

Mr Forrest visited a family member in the local area around 10am on Saturday 16th March and then returned home.

We are appealing for anyone who came into contact with Mr Forrest between Saturday 16th March and Tuesday 19th March to come forward.

Detective Chief Inspector Gareth Willis of Lancashire’s Force Major Investigation team said: “While we have made two arrests I must stress that this is very much an on-going investigation and enquiries are still underway to try and establish what has happened. We are not in a position at this stage to say what has caused Andrew’s death or if there has been any foul play and it may be some months before we are in a position to do so.

“We continue to appeal to anyone who may have seen or even heard from him between Saturday and Tuesday to speak to us.

“If you have any information and haven’t already spoken to us, please get in touch as soon as possible. Any information, no matter how minor, could prove to be important.

“My thoughts remain with Andrew’s family at this incredibly difficult time. They continue to be supported and kept updated by specially trained officers."

Anyone with information should call us on 101 quoting log number 0838 of March 19th or independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
