Woman suffers serious leg injuries in Rossendale collision

We are appealing for information after a woman was seriously injured in a Rossendale collision.

We were called to Newchurch Road, Rawtenstall at around 12:15pm today (Thursday, June 6th) following a collision near to Staghills Road.

A 39-year-old woman from Darwen became trapped between two Vauxhall Vivaro vans. She suffered serious injuries to her lower legs and was taken by air ambulance to the Royal Preston Hospital where she is currently undergoing surgery.

The road was closed for around three hours for collision investigation work.

Nobody has been arrested in connection with the incident.

Sgt Marc Glass of Lancashire Police said: “My thoughts are with the woman and her family at this difficult time.

 “Our investigation is underway and we are working to establish exactly what happened and why.
