We would like to update you following Section 60 powers being put in place in Fleetwood yesterday.
Overnight officers out and about in the town stopped 15 people and a boy aged 16 was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply and possession of a weapon. He remains in custody.
The Section 60 powers were put in place following three incidents over the last two days, the first of which occurred on Thursday (July 4th), when a caravan was broken into at Cala Gran Holiday Park by a group believed to have been in possession of crowbars. Nothing was stolen and nobody was hurt during the incident.
The second incident occurred at around 2.50am yesterday (Friday), when we were called to an address on Princes Way to reports of a fire. The fire is currently being treated as suspicious.
The third incident occurred yesterday afternoon, shortly before 1.15pm, when we were called to reports a group of men had forced their way into an address on Broadway while in possession of machete-type weapons. Nobody is believed to have been injured.
At this time we believe the incidents may be linked and that there is no wider threat to the public.
The Section 60 was put in place yesterday evening and remained in place until 7am today (Saturday).
