Pensioner injured after Church collision

We are appealing for witnesses after an 86-year-old man was injured following a collision in Church.

Police were called around 2pm on December 29 following reports of an accident involving a BMW car and a man riding a mobility scooter on Henry Street, close to the junction with Hyndburn Road and Dill Hall Lane.

The rider, an 86-year-old man from Church, suffered a broken leg and was taken to Royal Preston Hospital for treatment. He is currently recovering.

The driver of the BMW, a 25-year-old man from Rishton, was not injured.

Police are appealing for witnesses following the incident.

Sgt Lee Harris, of Lancashire Police, said: “We are urging anyone who saw the collision to come forward.

"We are particularly keen to trace anyone who might have dashboard mounted camera footage of the incident.

“If you have any information, please contact police.”
