Appeal following fatal collision in Blackburn

We are appealing for information following a collision in Blackburn in which a 38-year-old man sadly died.

The incident happened at around 7.15pm on Tuesday (January 1st) on Wainwright Way, Blackburn, when a blue Volkswagen Golf collided with a pedestrian.

The pedestrian suffered severe head trauma and was taken to Royal Preston Hospital, where he sadly died a few hours later.

The road was closed for four hours for collision investigation work.

We are now appealing for information and are urging anybody who witnessed the collision, and has not yet spoken to police, to contact us as soon as possible.

Sergeant Marc Glass, of the Roads Policing Unit, said: “First and foremost our thoughts are with the man’s family, who are currently being supported by a Family Liaison Officer. We offer them our deepest condolences at this incredibly difficult time.

“We now want to piece together exactly what occurred and are urging anybody who saw the collision, or saw either the car or the pedestrian in the moments before it happened, to contact us as soon as possible.”
