Appeal following armed robbery in Leyland

Monday, December 23, 2019

We are appealing for information following an armed robbery in Leyland.

At around 2.40pm today (Monday, December 23rd) a male offender, wearing dark clothing and a face covering, entered NSS House on Wigan Road, with what appeared to be a firearm, while demanding money.

He fortunately made off empty-handed towards Pendle Road, in the direction of Mendip Road. It is believed he was then driven away in a dark-coloured Range Rover which was parked nearby.

Thankfully nobody was injured during the incident but staff that were present have been left extremely shaken.

A short time later three men were arrested on suspicion of robbery and are currently in custody.

DI Steve Monk, of Lancashire Police, said: “I know that this will have been very concerning for local residents but I would like to reassure them that we have a team of detectives investigating the incident, and in the meantime there are additional patrols in the area.

“Three people have since been arrested and remain in custody at this time.

“We would now ask that anyone who was in the vicinity of Wigan Road or the Woodsman public house and saw anybody acting suspiciously, or who saw a black Range Rover in the area, get in touch with us as soon as possible.”

Anybody with information is asked to get in touch on 101, quoting log number 771 of December 23rd.
