Tuesday, August 27, 2019

Two men have been arrested as part of an investigation into a firearms discharge in Preston.

The pair, aged 20 and 23, were arrested in the city in the early hours of this morning (Wednesday, August 28th) on suspicion of possession of a firearm with intent. They are currently in police custody.

DCI Richard McCutcheon from Preston Police said: “Despite these arrests, our investigation continues and we need people to come forward.

“We believe that the attack was targeted and both parties are known to each other. If you saw or know anything that could assist with our investigation, please get in touch.

“We will continue to maintain a presence in the area and hope that this will reassure people. Please speak to an officer if you have any concerns.”

We were called at shortly after 5pm on Bank Holiday Monday (August 26th) after shots were heard being fired on Pope Lane in Ribbleton close to the junction with Grizedale Crescent.

Enquiries have revealed that the person who fired the weapon made off from the scene in a silver Ford Mondeo, which has now been recovered by police in the Fairhaven Road area of Penwortham.

Anyone with any information about the vehicle is also asked to contact us on 101 quoting incident reference 1206 of August 26th. Alternatively, independent charity Crimestoppers can be reached anonymously on 0800 555111 or online at
