Appeal launched after man attacked

We are appealing for information after a man suffered a serious facial injury following an assault in Church.

Around 7pm on April 23 a man in his 70s was walking on Princess Street when he was approached by a man driving a red car.

The motorist confronted the man and returned to his vehicle, driving up to York Street. The driver stopped the vehicle and approached the victim again, punching him in the face. The victim suffered a broken jaw and went to Royal Blackburn Hospital for treatment.

Police are appealing for witnesses and are urging anyone with information to come forward.

PC Christopher Jobe, of Lancashire Police, said: “This was a shocking incident which has left the victim with a serious facial injury.

“We believe a number of people were in the area at the time of the offence and would urge anyone who saw what happened to contact us.

“We particular want to trace the driver of the red car. If you know who this is, please call police immediately.”
