Appeal after Blackburn collision

A man has suffered a leg injury following a collision in Blackburn.

It happened at around 12:45am today (Thursday, April 4th) after a black Audi A3 being followed at a distance by a police officer has collided with a wall on Pleckgate Road at the junction with Carham Road.

The driver, a 25-year-old man from Blackburn suffered a suspected broken leg and has been taken to Royal Blackburn Hospital where he is receiving treatment.

The road was closed for around four hours whilst police investigated.

The collision will be referred to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC).

Sergeant Tracy Ward of Lancashire's Road Policing Unit said: "Anyone with information about the collision can call us on 101 quoting incident reference 0016 of today (April 4th)."
