Appeal after fatal collision

A woman who died in a collision in Edenfield has been identified.

Police were called at 11.35pm on Saturday September 8th after a VW Polo driving on to the main northbound carriageway of the bypass struck a pedestrian.

The pedestrian, a woman, was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. She has since been identified as Ausrine Micyte (pictured), 46, of Blackburn.

Ausrine’s daughter has paid the following tribute to her:

“'Ausrine was a much loved mother and grandmother. She always had a smile on her face. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.”

Police are continuing to appeal for witnesses. Anyone with information should call 101 quoting log number 1656 of Saturday, September 8th.
