Detectives have launched an investigation after a man entered a property in Blackburn and attempted to sexually assault a woman.
Police were called around 10.40pm yesterday (Sunday, March 25) following reports of an incident at an address in Fecitt Brow.
A woman in her 20s reported a man had entered her property. The attacker made a sexualised comment to the victim, who eventually fought the man off, with the male making off from the scene before any further assault took place.
The victim suffered minor facial injuries, but did not require hospital treatment.
The suspect is described as white and was wearing dark clothing.
Detectives are appealing for information and are keen to speak to with anyone who can assist with their enquiries.
Det Sgt Bryony Midgley, of Lancashire Police, said: “This was a shocking and appalling attack where a man has entered a property and attempted to sexually assault a woman.
“It is only thanks to the bravery of the victim, who fought the attacker off, that a more serious crime was prevented from taking place.
“The woman involved has been left very shaken by her ordeal and we want to find the offender as soon as possible.
“We are keen to speak to anyone who saw a man acting suspiciously in the area between 9.30pm and 10.40pm on Sunday night. If you saw or heard anything which could assist with our enquiries, please come forward.
“We are treating the attack as an isolated incident and patrols have been increased in the area.”
