Winter Hill fire investigation: Man released

A MAN arrested in connection with a fire at Winter Hill near Bolton has been released.

Lancashire Constabulary and Lancashire Fire and Rescue are continuing to investigate the cause of the fire which broke out last Thursday afternoon.

Fire crews continue to tackle the blaze 

The origin and cause of the fire remain unknown.

One man, aged 22, from Bolton, was arrested on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life and has now been released under investigation.

A second man, also aged 22 and from Bolton, sustained injuries when a van the men were in was involved in a collision on Winter Hill on Thursday afternoon. He has been released from hospital. He has not been arrested.

Enquiries are on-going.
