Teenager charged after robbery in Blackburn

DETECTIVES investigating the robbery of a woman in Blackburn have charged a teenager.

The 14 year old, from Blackburn, who can’t be named for legal reasons, appeared at Blackburn Magistrates’ Court today (Wednesday, January 10th) charged with robbery and burglary.

He was bailed pending his next court appearance.

A second 14 year old boy arrested on suspicion of burglary and robbery has been bailed until January 30th. The 51 year old victim was attacked in Belper Street at about 7am on Friday, January 5th by an offender armed with a length of wood with nails protruding from it.

She suffered serious injuries to her face and broken bones in her hands as she tried to defend herself. She is currently being treated in hospital.

The offender stole the victim’s keys and mobile phone and used the keys to get in to victim’s place of work, a newsagent on Pelham Street where they stole cash and made off.
