Man charged after Blackburn affray

A MAN has been charged after a man and his young son were attacked in a car in Blackburn.

Police were called at about 6.20pm on Saturday, August 11th to reports that a number of men with weapons were attacking a BMW car in the Queen’s Park Road area of the town.

The driver and his five year old son both received minor injuries during the incident which is being treated as a targeted attack.

Following enquiries 23 year old Hassan Malik, of Pringle Street, Blackburn was charged with Section 18 wounding, affray, criminal damage and possession of an offensive weapon.

He appeared before Blackburn Magistrates’ Court today (Monday, August 13th)

A second man aged 19 arrested on suspicion of affray has been bailed.

Enquiries are on-going to locate a number of other men.

Extra patrols have been put on in the area as reassurance.
