Witnesses sought after Rossendale collision

We are appealing for witnesses after a collision on Schofield Road in Rossendale on Tuesday 27th March.

Police were called at 17:30 on 27th March to reports of a two vehicle collision at the junction with Henry Street.

It involved a Vauxhall Astra van and a Vauxhall Insignia.

The two cars collided at the junction of Schofield Road and Henry Street. The Astra then rotated and collided with a wall and nearby parked vehicle.

The driver of the Astra, a man in his 30s suffered serious injuries and a child passenger received minor injuries.

The driver of the Astra remains in hospital in a serious but stable condition.

The driver of the Insignia was uninjured.

The road was closed for approximately two and a half hours for accident investigation works.

Sergeant Lee Harris of Lancashire’s Road Policing Unit, said: “We need to establish exactly what happened and would appeal to anyone who was in the area and saw the collision to help police with their investigation.”
