Woman attacked on her way home from a night out in Rawtenstall

Thursday, April 19, 2018

Detectives have released footage of two men they would like to speak to after a woman was attacked on her way home from a night out in Rawtenstall on Good Friday.

At 2.30am on Friday March 30th, the 21-year-old was followed as she walked from Bank Street to Grange Road and onto Newchurch Road.

She was dragged to the ground and the men made off with her handbag.

The woman described her attackers as being two Asian men in their mid-20s.

Det Con Andy Lever, of Lancashire Constabulary’s East Division CID, said "This was a particularly cowardly attack on a lone female who was walking home from a night out.
“It appears the two males have been around Rawtenstall Town Centre before they started to follow her home.
“It was a busy night as it was the start of the Easter weekend.
“While the CCTV footage isn't the clearest, we would ask that people think back to that Easter weekend and if you were in Rawtenstall Town Centre and recognise these males, please contact us immediately".
