Detectives investigating reports of a fight on Countess Street, Accrington on Thursday (26th April) have charged a man.
Police were called to the incident at around 02:00 hours. Two men – aged 20 and 43 were taken to hospital. The 20-year-old has since discharged himself. The 43-year-old remains in the Royal Preston Hospital with fractures. His injuries are not life threatening.
Bilal Iqbal, 31, of Hyndburn Street, Accrington has been charged with section 18 wounding, attempted section 18 wounding, possession of an offensive weapon and possession of class A drugs.
He is due to appear at Lancashire Magistrates’ Court this morning (Saturday 28th April).
Police are continuing to investigate a number of other incidents which happened in the town on the same night.
At shortly after midnight police received a call to say that a car had been set on fire on Edleston Street and the windows of houses smashed on Hyndburn Street and Countess Street. A second vehicle was also damaged on Countess Street.
