Detectives investigating a brutal assault in Blackburn have charged a man.
Police launched an investigation on Saturday (September 23) after a 33-year-old woman was physically and sexually assaulted as she walked along George Street West. The woman suffered injuries including a fractured jaw, bleed on the brain and a number of lost teeth. She remains in hospital undergoing treatment.
Following extensive enquiries police arrested a man on Tuesday.
Sam Carrington, 22, of no fixed address, was charged with attempted rape, sexual assault on a female, Section 18 - grievous bodily harm with intent and committing an offence with the intention of committing a relevant sexual offence yesterday.
He has been remanded to appear at Blackburn Magsitrates' Court today (Thursday, September 28).
