Woman injured by thrown firework

POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a woman was injured by a firework.


The 23 year old woman was at a community event on Cedar Street, Blackburn when she was struck by a firework thrown by a group of youths.


She suffered serious but not life threatening burns to her legs after her clothes caught fire and she is currently being treated at the Royal Blackburn Hospital.


The incident happened at about 9.30pm on Sunday (November 5th)


Detective Constable Deborah Sethi, of East CID, said: “This woman is extremely fortunate not to have suffered even more serious injuries. I would appeal to anyone who witnessed what happened or who knows who any of this group of youths may be, to get in touch. I would also ask that if you were among this group that you come and speak to us.”
