Flooding in Galgate and Preesall

Wednesday, November 22, 2017

Residents in Galgate and Preesall are being warned to be prepared for flooding.

The Environment Agency has issued flood warnings for the River Conder, Galgate, and Pumped Watercourses in Preesall.

Warnings also remain in place for Burrow Beck in Lancaster.

Heavy rain has led to rising water levels in these areas and is forecast to continue overnight and into Thursay morning.

Flooding is expected in Galgate in areas adjacent to the River Conder, Whitley Beck and Ou Beck in Galgate, including properties on Vernon Crescent, Stoney Lane, Main Road, Salford Road and Chapel Lane.

In Preesall, land drained by the pumped watercourses is expected to flood, including properties contained by Pilling Lane, Green Dick's Lane, Head Dyke Lane, Lancaster Road and those accessed by Grasmere Road.

We will continue to monitor through the night and will update if the situation changes.
